Ski Day
Unwind from PVRW with a fun day on the slopes at Loveland Ski Area on Friday, March 5th. Those interested should purchase their own lift ticket here.
Weather: Mountain conditions are often far colder and windier than in Golden, and can change quickly. That said, early March can also deliver bluebird spring skiing, so bring a range of layers. Check the Snow Report and live weather updates before you go. Storms can also slow or close I-70, so keep an eye on the forecast.
High altitude: Loveland's base is at 10,800 ft, and the summit is 13,010 ft. To minimize the effects of elevation, drink lots of water to stay hydrated! If you are feeling symptoms of altitude (headache, dizziness, light headedness, nausea), take a break and drink some water/electrolytes until the effects subside, or call it an early day. It might be a good idea to bring your favorite headache medicine just in case. Also, be sure to apply sunscreen.
Getting there: The Ski Chair will help organize car pools. Please sign up to drive if you are local! Loveland Ski Area is about 50 miles west of Golden, around a 1 hour drive.
Interested in Joining? Indicate your interest via a check box on the registration form. For additional questions, message pvrw.admin@nlr.gov and the Ski Chair will follow up with more information.
